Here is the latest news from the world of Vendetta, in reverse chronological order. Read the list backwards if that concept confuses you.

Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? Yeah, we're eight years older, and there's probably twelve million new Christmas videos each year on YouTube, but Vendetta is still damn fun to watch. The video quality -- shot on Hi8 tape, edited and mastered in Motion JPEG on the original Pentium! -- was fancy for its day and is way retro-cool now. The spoofing of 80's cop shows, already anachronistic in 1998, is even retroer-cooler. We still send out DVDs when someone sends us a good ol' self-addressed stamped-envelope. Feel free to send one in now!

After over a decade, I've finally decided to update the website a bit. Doing so allows me to post the news you are currently reading, which will hopefully remind people that Vendetta is alive and well. Also, I finally replaced the ancient video downloads with directly embedded videos on the videos page. Doing so required me to update to a wider layout -- what, you're not still browsing in 640x480? I didn't make many other noticeable changes, but I did use the opportunity to move the site to relatively modern HTML/CSS templates. Overzealous web designers rejoice! And Happy Holidays to you all!

Vendetta came up at dinner the other day with some old friends, and so did the story about how it was nominated for an award in France (story further down the page). And although I already mentioned it here in the news that a clip of Vendetta was shown on French TV, I never posted the video. So, at long last, here is Vendetta on French TV.

The clip is just over a minute long, but it's pretty awesome because they sped it up Benny Hill style, replaced the music with Moby's "Bodyrock", and overdubbed some very French sounding voice actor vomiting. If that all wasn't enough to make the clip special, then please note the 3 frames of the entirely underwhelmed studio audience at the end. Cracks me up every time.

Another Christmas has come and gone, and many more people have experienced Vendetta. DVD requests still come in and I still happily send them out. However, there's never been a better time to watch Vendetta online, as I've recently completed an upload of a higher quality version to Vimeo. Here they are:

Those are the best quality clips of Vendetta in existence, save for the free DVD. Enjoy.

Just moved the entire site to a new server. For several years hosting was generously provided by my employer, The Web's Most Popular Shoe Store, but I haven't worked there in over a year so it was time to man up and get my own place. We are now hanging out on a shiny new system that behaves exactly like the old system, except for the moment I've disabled new message board posts. I write all this simply to let you know that Vendetta is alive and well. Happy Holidays!

These days, hosting our own videos seems kind of quaint. We'll continue to do so as long as the quality is higher, but we've posted them to YouTube as well, for your general convenience. The entire things is on there, though I had to break it up into 10 parts, and that's just a link to the first one. But I figure you can dig up the rest. You're a smart cookie. I believe in you.

I'm in South Africa (an experience you can read more about on my blog), and today I watched Vendetta with my friend Zenzo. First time a Vendetta DVD was played in Africa, to my knowledge, and it went over big. He practically begged for a copy to show his family, which I provided, and he reported the next day that it was a hit with them as well. Vendetta truly crosses cultural divides and brings people together!

The holiday season is just around the corner, and what better way to start getting in the mood than with a glowing review from one of the most respected critics in the world? Read Aaron Kahn's take on Vendetta.

It has come to my attention that the lack of news items has led people to believe that perhaps the Vendetta DVD offer on the front page was no longer valid. I assure you: Vendetta is still going strong. In fact, last year when I put up the DVD offer, I was overwhelmed with requests. I was burning the DVD's myself and I couldn't keep up. So this year I have ordered a large batch of professionally printed DVD's for the masses. So please, until you see a further notice here, feel confident that if you send in your self-addressed stamped envelope (as described on the home page), I will certainly send you a DVD. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like getting Slashdotted again. We're very glad to have people see Episode 2, but I wish there were some better way to reliably host videos online!

This is the moment your parents warned you about; the moment you have been waiting for in sweaty anticipation. To what do we refer? Vendetta: A Christmas Story, Episode Two of course!

Nearly five years in the making, tied up in legal battles and family feuds, Vendetta: A Christmas Story, Episode Two is now available online. In addition, there are better quality clips available of both episodes, for those with high-bandwidth connections. As if that weren't enough, there's now a reasonably high-tech message board where you can gripe all day and flame each other. Enjoy!

It has been a shamefully long time since the site has been updated - but hey, it's been a shamefully long year. Anyways, I though we'd offer a little gift to the whole internet, to show our gratitude and all that, and in what better way than with Vendetta? So for for the first time in over one point five zillion years Vendetta is now available in multiple formats! Anyone who was holding out for religious reasons should take a peek. Merry Christmas, and enjoy.

You probably won't believe me when I tell you that I was just flown to Lille, France and put up in The Carlton for an entire week because of the nomination mentioned below. I actually didn't believe it myself until they gave me the flight confirmation number and I checked with the airline.

Although it would have been great if the whole Vendetta team could have gone together, they were only paying for one, so I (Jonathan Field - aka McKeegan) was selected to represent. This was at least in part because I was the only one with a valid passport.

I got back a few weeks ago, but I've been so busy catching up with work that I couldn't even update the site. In the end we didn't win the award, but the nomination and the trip were amazingly cool. I even got to be interviewed on French television for about 30 seconds.

Being that Vendetta only cost a C-note or so to make, getting this free trip qualifies as a huge profit. If we're talking percentages here, we're probably up there with such fine films as Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

How cool is it that Vendetta was nominated (out of ten films) as best of the year in the Nouveaux Talents category at FIFI 2000. I won't keep you in suspense: it's pretty damn cool. Anyone who is in Lille, France next week should drop in to see Vendetta on the big screen. Damn.

It is a grand day indeed in the history of Vendetta. I was notified today that Vendetta has been added to the Internet Movie Database. Now if that isn't the end-all be-all of internet recognition, then I just don't know what is. Thanks to all our fans and to IMDb for being one of the coolest sites on the web.

As if things couldn't get any better this year, Vendetta was featured on this French website under "LE SURF DE LA SEMAINE" (that's "website of the week" if my high school French class serves me still). Here's what they have to say, courtesy of Google translate:

Not to be missed: The first detective Father Christmas movie on the net. Vendetta tells the story of Father Christmas time version Tarantino Reservoir Dog. So a thriller, with action, car chases and death. It's called a B series, and it is just on the web.
Wow. I couldn't have said it better myself. We have also received word that Vendetta was featured on a French television show. It seems that in the land of artistic recognition, Vendetta stands tall.
Note: The above link is to a copy of the site kept on our server. The original is no longer online, but here are some remnants courtesy of the Wayback Machine.

We've been Slashdotted! Somehow one of the most popular sites on the internet decided to post a story about Vendetta. The response destroyed both this server and our generous mirror at Newgrounds for over 24 hours. Despite the destruction of our servers, all involved were happy to see Vendetta get the loving recognition and critical backlash it deserved.

Dec 9, 1999
Today, certified internet celebrity Tom Fulp recognized Vendetta for the high calibre entertainment that it is - and has chosen to honor us by placing Vendetta on Newgrounds! If you pride yourself on your your finely honed bad taste and/or mental illness, you'll surely love Newgrounds. Check it out!

The Vendetta crew was recently invited to show the film at the IMAGE 99 Film Festival. Despite the fact that there were many other incredible films on display, Vendetta won audience favorite, hands down.

Aug 11, 1999
Due to overwhelming viewer requests, TCI Cable has agreed to air Vendetta for the following two weeks on Saturday mornings at 9:00 and Sunday evenings at 8:00.

Vendetta was shown on San Francisco cable access again, this time between Kiddie Korner and Rump N' Grind. We certainly hope that Vendetta was not responsible, but we are told that the two shows received their highest cross-viewership rating in years.

Jul 28, 1999
Vendetta was shown on San Francisco cable for the first time, coinciding nicely with the launch of this site. We were frankly shocked at the near instant hysteria surrounding the film, which crashed our guestbook in less than 24 hours. It is scheduled to be on again next Friday at 10:00 PM. Tell your friends! Tell your enemies! Tell yourself!
